Kesi Hatten said the death of her cousin, Antwane Burrise, who was shot and killed by police earlier this month, has devastated their family.
Hatten, 42, of Sacramento, lived in Stockton until the age of 12 where, she said, that she and her cousin were raised like siblings.
“It’s heart-wrenching,” she said. “We’re all really very much hurt by this.”
Stockton Police say Burrise, 39, was wanted in connection with the June 1 shooting death of Renard Thomas, 39, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside a vehicle just east of downtown Stockton.
On the afternoon of July 16, authorities located Burrise inside a vehicle at an apartment complex in the 5200 block of Cosumnes Drive just off Trinity Parkway, police said. Officers considered Burrise, who had a warrant out for his arrest in connection with Thomas’ death, armed and dangerous. …
